Aside from houseboating, marinas offer a variety of fun water activities for their guests. Whether you’re an adrenaline junky or wish to be one with nature, most marinas offer hourly, daily and multi-rentals for:
- Paddle Boarding
- Water Skiing
- Power Boats
- Fishing Boats
- Water Toys
Life on the lake is always an adventure and many marinas host festivals, fireworks, musical presentations, and drama and themed parties throughout the year. Check the entertainment calendar or the visitor’s bureau for the lake you will be visiting and add a little entertainment to your vacation.
The Great Outdoors
Dock the houseboat and explore nature at its finest. The lush forests, hiking and biking trails and fishing hot spots are guaranteed to add adventure to your vacation.
Hiking & Biking Trails
Take a short jaunt or a long adventure! Thousands of trails wind through our forests and are sure to satisfy all skill levels. Be sure to pack appropriate footwear for your hiking, and check with your marina operator or forest service for trail maps. If biking, it’s a good idea to bring your own bike because rentals are often not available at the marinas.
Gear up and get ready to cast a line in one of our bountiful lakes. These lakes are known for incredible fishing for any angler. Two things are required before you cast a line: Bait and a fishing license. Luckily, both are available for purchase at each marina. Check the Department of Fishing and Waterways for fishing reports to discover what’s biting in your lake.
Add a traditional camping experience to your houseboating adventure by pitching
a tent on the shore and sleeping under the stars.
Being unplugged is a luxury on the lake, but if you need to hop online, Wi-Fi is available at or near some marinas.
Some cell phones will work on some lakes, but it’s a good idea to check with your marina operator and carrier to determine coverage on your waterway of choice.
Marina fuel is available for purchase at all marinas for houseboats and all other types of watercraft. Calculate fuel needs for your houseboat rental by talking to your marina operator and remember – no additional fueling supply of any kind is permitted on the vessel.
Campfires are permitted, but permits are required to protect our forests. If you’re planning on roasting s’mores on shore, obtain a permit ahead of time.
For the land lovers, quaint and cozy accommodations can be found around all lakes and marinas. If you wish to arrive the night before your rental begins, extend your stay, or even host guests for a few days on land, ample options exist for your vacation needs.
Ice, sundries, snacks and beverages are generally available at all marina stores.
