What to Do

Whether you’re renting a houseboat for three days or one week, there are plenty of ways to keep you and all your guests entertained. There are many things to do on a houseboat and places to explore on our lakes, you’re sure to keep busy, or completely relaxed, for the duration of your vacation. Below is a list of our favorite things to do on your houseboat.

BYOB – Bring your own boat or watercraft, or rent one here

Most guests rent a small boat of some sort, it increases everyone’s fun. And with so much area to explore, you’ll find a ski boat or waverunner comes in handy.

Most marinas rent all types of boats, water-skis, wakeboards, kneeboards, and a multitude of other water toys to tow along on your houseboat vacation. Check with your marina to see what’s available*.

Fishing

Whether you’re an experienced fisherman or have never held a pole in your life, fishing is a fun way to pass the time. Fishing licenses, bait and other amenities are available at the marina stores, so make sure to pack your poles and tackle box.

Hiking

Each boat must be docked in a cove at nightfall. Once you dock for the evening, why not take a hike? There are acres of beautiful trails and land to be discovered. Take your hike up a notch and hold a scavenger hunt.

Games

Time slows to a leisurely pace so make the most of it! This is a perfect opportunity to bring out the games that everyone can play—cards, Pictionary, Monopoly—the list is endless, the winners are happy, and the losers cook breakfast in the morning.

Dock & Dine

Some lakes have access to local restaurants. Take the group and get dressed up for a night on the “town” or visit your marina store for a mid afternoon ice cream.
